Updates on Samaah

Born on August 25, 2006, Samaah is back in Saskatoon after spending her first few days in Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Just spoke to Naila, and there are some significant updates from today.

The Gallium scan was complete and there was a large infection in Samaah's bones. The doctors will be placing her on 4-6 weeks of antibiotics.

Also, they completed another investigative procedure in her heart and they discovered that there is a minor hole in her heart. However, they are not too concerned with this at this point. What they are really worried about is the fact that her pulmonary veins are not developing properly. They will require further investigation of this issues by doing an invasive procedure that will take some pictures of heart, but can’t do that until antibiotic is complete (another 4-6 weeks).

Also, the doctors have put Samaah on a vaccine once a month for children whose immune system is very weak and a higher dose of Lasix due to water in lungs.

Please continue to make dua in these last few days of Ramadan that Allah makes it easy for Samaah. She is so resilient and even in the midst of so much, she is still able to smile.

subhanAllah..so many complications for such a tiny, beautiful soul. what a trying time for her family, and all of us who love her, even all of us who feel so close in spirit, without having met her yet.

may Allah (swt) continue to watch over Samaah and her family, lighten their hearts, and guide us all with patience and perseverance. ameen.

    Assalamualikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu Br Hassan,

Just wanted to assure you that you, Samaah and your family is in the prayers of all.

May Allah Subhanao Wataala let not this blessed month pass without giving speedy recovery and complete Shifa to Samaah -- Aameen.

Also wanted to remind you of the following beautiful words of the Prophet (Alayhis Salato WasSalam)

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded a narration from Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, attributing it to the Prophet :

(Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you; be mindful of Allah and you will find Him ever with you. Turn to Allah in times of ease and He will turn to you in times of difficulty. If you ask anyone for anything, then ask Allah; if you seek help from anyone, then seek help from Allah. Know that even if the entire nation were to come together to do you some harm that Allah has not decreed for you, they will never be able to harm you, and if they were to come together to do you some good that Allah has not decreed for you, they will never be able to do that. The pages have dried and the pens have been lifted. Strive for the sake of Allah with thankfulness and firm conviction, and know that in patiently persevering with regard to something that you dislike there is much goodness. Victory comes with patience, a way out comes from difficulty and with hardship comes ease.)
